In October 2013, it was confirmed that Marvel Television and Netflix were collaborating on a series of television shows, including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, to have them crossover in a team-up event, The Defenders. It was clearly modeled after Marvel Studios’ successful strategy of introducing a group of four central heroes in solo projects before culminating in The Avengers. If it worked once before, it stands to reason it will work again. Sadly, that didn’t happen.
