The film, directed by Jon M. Chu, has been both a critical and commercial success, amassing $681 million to date, and it now holds the title of the highest-grossing Broadway adaptation of all time. Meanwhile, Deadpool & Wolverine, which amassed several records of its own, was beat out by the musical for a coveted Golden Globe.
