The 2004 superhero film Spider-Man 2, the second installment in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, is still widely regarded as being one of the greatest superhero films in history while also serving as a blueprint for all subsequent films in the genre, in which Spider-Man 2 established a template for superhero sequels to be able to transcend their source material by providing a deeper psychological exploration of their superhero protagonists.
