Before Gladiator IIs release, there was skepticism about whether the sequel would be as good as the first. After all, Ridley Scott is known for his inconsistency and, Napoleon, his most recent historical film, wasn’t what fans of the Emperor’s exploits had hoped for. Thankfully, Scott has proved that he’s still got it. Both fans and critics have largely praised the follow-up, though it remains to be seen whether the Academy of Motion Arts and Sciences will shower it with Oscars as was the case with the first film.
