Parks and Recreation is regarded as one of the best sitcoms in modern television history, but it was not always destined to stand on its own two feet and was at one point planned to be a spin-off from another popular series The Office. The recently released memoir Welcome to Pawnee: Stories of Friendship, Waffles, and Parks and Recreation by Jerry/Garry Gergich actor Jim OHeir has shed some light on several aspects of the series, including how some castings came about, and the early connections to the Steve Carrel-led show.
