The Western genre, prolific from the ’30s to the ’60s, has seen a revival over the past decade and a half or so. With movies such as Django Unchained (2012), The Revenant (2015), and The Hateful 8 (2015), it is definitely a genre back on the rise. In particular, it has become a popular theme for mixing genres, such as horror with Bone Tomahawk (2015) or animation with Rango (2011).
