Jim Henson passed away just four years after Labyrinth was released, never really getting to see the film gain a massive audience and solidify its spot as a cult classic. Best known for creating the Muppets and Fraggle Rock, Henson went on to helm 1982’s The Dark Crystal and 1986’s Labyrinth. While The Dark Crystal made a profit at the box office, Labyrinth banked $12.7 million, just a bit over its $25 million budget.
