Directed by Todd Haynes and written by Samy Burch, May December follows an actress named Elizabeth (Natalie Portman) who travels to Georgia for an upcoming role to study a married couple with a controversial age gap, Gracie (Julianne Moore) and Joe (Charles Melton). The cast includes Cory Michael Smith, D.W. Moffett, and Elizabeth Yu; Portman and Will Ferrell are among the film’s producers. May December premiered this year at the 76th Cannes Film Festival and sold to Netflix for $11 million; it will debut on the streaming platform Dec. 1 after a run in select theaters.
