On November 7th, we learned from Nintendo that The Legend of Zelda movie will be live-action, moving the franchise in a direction more fitting than computer animation for video gaming’s most revered fantasy franchise. The filmmakers have a challenge, like those who produced The Super Mario Bros. Movie, to establish a visual design, build a world that is a mix of both Japanese and European mythology, and set a tone that is serious but has room for whimsy and a few comedic beats (see The Fellowship of the Ring).
