Benedict Cumberbatch Slams ‘Doctor Strange’ Production as “Grossly Wasteful” Following His Superhero Transformation

Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) might not be appearing in the next big MCU team-up movie, Avengers: Doomsday (at least, as far as we know), but the character is expected to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe at some point in the near future. But, when Stephen Strange does return, Cumberbatch hopes that one crucial element of the movie’s production is fixed. The British actor first played the character in the eponymous 2016 film, Doctor Strange. Since then, he has returned in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, and the critically panned Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. As is the case with any superhero role, Benedict Cumberbatch had to get into superhero shape to play Stephen Strange in the MCU. But, reflecting on the process, Cumberbatch has labeled it as “grossly wasteful,” and he has a point.
