Former Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl has opened up about her complicated history with the hit television series. Heigl played the character of Isobel “Izzie” Katherine Stevens on Grey’s Anatomy and quickly became a fan favorite and earned rave reviews from critics, winning the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series at the 59th Primetime Emmy Awards in 2007. However, for season four, Heigl made the controversial decision to opt out of pursuing a nomination for the 2008 Emmy Awards, citing insufficient material in the role and being very critical of the series’ storylines. This strained her relationship with the creative team, and she soon left the series in 2010 during the sixth season.
