George Lucas Doubles Down on Star Wars Special Editions

When speaking of vocal fanbases, none may be simultaneously louder and less listened-to than Star Wars fans. While this might feel like an occurrence that has emerged in the social media age, making their opinion known about what they like and don’t like has been going on for years. One of the major instances of this was when George Lucas released the special edition cuts of the original Star Wars trilogy while he was working on 1999’s Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. Lucas decided to revisit the films first released in 1977, 1980, and 1983, respectively by giving them visual effects upgrades, added scenes, and other changes.
