Fans of The Sopranosno doubt have their own pick for the series’ finest episode, but one that tops the list more than any other is Season 3’s “Pine Barrens.” Written by future Boardwalk Empire creator Terence Winter and directed by none other than Steve Buscemi, Episode 11 is largely self-contained, and something of a break from Season 3’s main action, just as it’s about to reach its endgame.
