Karyn Kusama has charted a unique course throughout her 20-plus-year career in the movie business. Her 2000 debut Girlfight was an indie hit, giving her the chance to tackle big-budget sci-fi spectacle in 2005’s Æon Flux. That movie flopped with critics and at the box office, and her next project, 2009’s Jennifer’s Body, didn’t do a whole lot better. Luckily, time has been kinder to Jennifer’s Body, which has gone on to be considered an underrated feminist horror classic in the intervening years.
