The Oscars are the culmination of a months-long awards season that celebrates the art of filmmaking and all the movies that came out the year before. There are performances, skits, and speeches throughout the night to praise (and sometimes poke fun at) these films and the hard work that is put in to make the movies happen. No matter which filmmakers, actors, or movies end up taking home the gold, each nominee gets at least a few moments to shine before the winners are announced.
