Screamfans, open the champagne bottles, because it’s time to celebrate! The announcement you have been waiting for is here. Stu Macher, the firecracker-like villain from Wes Craven’s original Scream, is returning for the upcoming sequel, which is dueto be released in February 2026. Per the report by Deadline, Matthew Lillard, the actor who played Stu Macher, has now officially been added to the cast in Scream 7. Considering Stu was seemingly killed by a TV set that crushed his head in 1996’s Scream, it is very surprising that director Kevin Williamson has decided to bring him back. Williamson wrote the script for Craven’s first two Scream movies (and Scream 4), and must have now devised a plan to bring the beloved character back. Which is something that many fans have wanted to happen for some time.
