Once upon a time, everyone in Hollywood wanted to make a Vietnam War movie. This made sense because there was plenty of information to mine from. Even though the war was smaller in scale compared to other conflicts America found itself in, a lot happened in and out of the battlefield. For example, the war was heavily condemned back home, with the desertion rates quadrupling, according to The Armed Forces Journal. Beyond that, there was a huge outcry about American POWs being left behind after the war ended.
