Listen, sometimes even the best writers have a bad idea now and again. And, we’re sorry, but: trying to divorce the couple at the heart of Notting Hill definitely feels like a bad idea to us. Even if it came from the mind of the writer of the film, Richard Curtis, himself. Thankfully, the potential sequel storyline was so abhorrent an idea to the movie’s star, Julia Roberts, that she passed on making a mini-sequel to the film.
