Moana 2 rides a tidal wave of snappy tunes, eye-popping animation, and a celebration of Polynesian culture in an action-packed sequel that’s just as entertaining as the fantastic original. A beginning that’s awfully similar to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker thankfully improves with much better narrative execution. Moana 2 keeps the pacing brisk with loads of good humor and just a sprinkle of melancholy. Our dashing heroine proves her mettle as a leader to a winning supporting ensemble. Dwayne Johnson continues to steal the show as Maui, but he gets a run for his money from a truly cool Kakamora.
