After Jason Statham gained a measure of stardom as criminal courier driver Frank Martin in the 2002 action film The Transporter, he spent much of the ensuing decade playing variations of the same character the mercenary type with a shadowy background whose good intentions slightly outweigh their bad ones. His most memorable role in the early to mid-2000s came in a supporting capacity, with Stathams frighteningly mesmerizing performance as a ruthless kidnapper in the underrated 2004 thriller film Cellular.
