In 2023, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon premiered their documentary Kiss the Future at the Berlin International Film Festival, the beginning of what would be an award-winning festival run. The film follows the Siege of Sarajevo during the Bosnian War in the 1990s, and the concert U2 played in 1997 soon after the end of the conflict. An inspiring meditation on the undying nature of art in times of despair, Paramount+ released Kiss the Future on the streaming service in May 2024 after hitting theaters in February. However, due to an apparent technicality, the acclaimed documentary will not be making an awards push for next year’s Oscars.
