North Carolina-born actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead did not originally want to be an actress. After her family moved to Utah when she was a child, she believed she was going to become a professional ballet dancer, but, as a teenager, quit due to thinking her body structure wasn’t right to take that career path seriously. As a teenager, she had already landed acting roles and realized there was a legitimate way to continue it as an adult. Her first big role came when she was cast in 1999’s Passions, a soap opera that aired on NBC, and ever since then, Winstead has continued to appear in a wide variety of television shows and movies.
